Every team member at The Brick is trained to deliver the same personalized, expert service Adam built this store on. From shoe fittings to bike repair, our associates bring passion, knowledge, and genuine care to every customer who walks through the door.
It Started With
a Simple Belief
The Brick was thought of in 2010 and came to existence on April 14th, 2012. Adam Jones opened the doors on Main Street in Danville, Virginia, with a simple conviction: everyone deserves to be in the right shoe, and every community deserves a place to gather around the sports they love.
That very next Thursday, 7 people showed up for the first group run. They've run every Thursday since — at 6:15pm, rain or shine.
He was right about Danville.
The Store's
Best Employee
Every great running store needs a mascot, and ours had the most charming Bull Terrier in all of Danville. From day one, Albert greeted every customer, supervised shoe fittings, and led the occasional warm-up stretch with a wagging tail and an open heart.
Whether he was lounging in his favorite chair (wearing his Brick hat and shades, naturally), or keeping a watchful eye on the group run crew, Albert took his job very seriously — especially the part where customers gave him belly rubs.
Albert passed away a few years ago, but his spirit lives on at The Brick. He'll always be part of this family.
Our 24/7 chatbot is named in his honor. Say hi to Albert — he's still helping customers, just like he always did.
The Brick Timeline
The Idea
Adam Jones envisions a specialty running store for Danville. Tired of driving to Raleigh just to find a decent pair of running shoes, he starts planning to give his community the shop it deserves.
Doors Open — April 14th
The Brick Running & Tri Store opens at 410 Main St, Danville. That very next Thursday, 7 people show up for the first group run. They've run every Thursday since — at 6:15pm, rain or shine.
Race Timing Company
The Brick launches its event timing management company — race directing, building databases, and timing everything from 5Ks to half marathons in Danville, Clarksville, Rocky Mount, Lynchburg, and beyond.
"We Run the Ville"
The iconic "We Run the Ville" shirts drop — changing Danville one "sole" at a time. The slogan becomes a rallying cry for the growing running community.
Bike Expansion
The Brick expands into cycling — adding a full bike shop with sales, service, and repairs. Road bikes, mountain bikes, and triathlon bikes join the family, making The Brick a true multi-sport destination.
14 Years and Counting
Group walks on Wednesdays and group runs on Thursdays still happen every single week. The Brick continues to serve Danville and the surrounding region with the same passion — fitting shoes, timing races, and bringing people together.
Fun Fact
Three couples have met at The Brick and gotten married — two met in the store, and Adam officiated one of the weddings himself.
